32-bit MCU packs 2D GPU
Microchip’s 32-bit PIC32MZ DA microcontroller not only packs a 2-D graphics processing unit, but also up to 32 Mbytes of DDR2 memory, allowing designers to increase their application’s color resolution and display size up to 12 in. The PIC32MZ DA family bridges the graphics-performance gap between microcontrollers and microprocessors, while designers can continue to use the familiar design environment of an MCU.
The device's integrated three-layer graphics controller is capable of driving 24-bit color SXGA displays and supports multiple image and color space formats. Its graphics processing unit provides accelerated 2-D graphics rendering, as well as accelerated bit blit (stretch/shrink/filter) and raster operations.
